Usage & Safety FAQ

How often use
Edible garden?

For best results, apply our booster once every 5-10 years. Biochar is long lasting, but its compost blend is best refreshed annually to keep soil vigor high.  Use Deep South Earth's Recharge annually for replenishing the mineral compost blend in your biochar-treated soil.

Absolutely. It is safe for all vegetables, helping your crops retain more water and crucial nutrients during Alabama's hottest summer days.

When will it work
Recommended application rate

You will likely notice improved water retention and happier plants within weeks, though the soil structure improves even more over a full season.

We recommend never applying more than a 20% soil ratio. For most beds and pots, 2–10% by volume is the sweet spot. Use 20% only if the soil is poor, sandy, or you are building a new mix from scratch. If your soil is already alkaline, stick to the 2–5% range.
